Wabi Sabi

Wabi Sabi is a Japanese concept of imperfection. When I wrote the haiku for the Haiku Illustrations page, I didn't know the rules. There should be no titles, for example, and another important rule I didn't observe well was creating the twist in the third line.

So, my haiku are imperfect, and as such, they can remain. The link to the haiku is at the bottom of the Haiku Illustrations page.

We studied haiku in class in the last two weeks. I don't normally write poetry but I love this form, especially the 5-7-5 syllable structure.

Here's one I wrote for Valentine's Day.

Sediment settled

Undisturbed over decades

Until you stirred it.
